Social Programme
Studying at Milner School is a
wonderful opportunity to make new friends from all over the
world. Participating in the school’s Social Programme is
one of the best ways to do this. Every Monday after school at
3.25pm, we welcome new students with drinks in the student
lounge. Everybody is invited. It is a great opportunity
for current students to meet new students, practise their English
and make new friends. Every Tuesday at 3.20pm is our DVD
presentation where all students are invited to get together and
enjoy a new release movie or an old favourite with their
colleagues.
Many of Milner School’s social activities are free or of moderate cost. Our ‘pub nights’ are popular, where students and staff gather to enjoy a drink at the local pub. From time to time we arrange an ‘international dinner’, where students bring cuisine from their own culture to share with others. We arrange after-school sports matches too, for those who enjoy the outdoors.
There are a variety of paid
excursions & activities, some which take place on the weekends,
which students may book at Reception. Some trips are run by
the school; others by reputable tour operators. Examples
are:
- ‘Fly the London Eye’ – board the biggest observation wheel in the world and enjoy spectacular, panoramic views of the city of London.
- Embark on a trip to visit the Castles of Warwick, Leeds and Dover and learn more of England’s rich, historical past.
- Book a ticket for a famous West End musical.
- Purchase a ticket for the famous Wimbledon Tennis Championships
(June/July) for a one-in -a -lifetime experience. Cheap
tickets are often available for those who are prepared to
queue.
- Indulge in the delightful English tradition of afternoon tea with scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam, at the magnificent historical Cannizaro House on Wimbledon Common.
- Take a weekend trip to the fascinating university towns of Oxford & Cambridge, or the picturesque seaside town famous for its fish & chips: Brighton!
